Industrial, Paint Stripping & Rust Removal in San Antonio
Industrial sandblasting is heavy-duty blasting for businesses. We prep structural steel before coating, blast-clean to standards including SA 2.5 — near-white metal — and remove paint and rust from heavy equipment, fleet trucks, oilfield and construction equipment, tanks, skids and fabricated steel.
Paint stripping and rust removal blasting are a big part of the work, getting steel back to a sound, clean surface so the new industrial coating or powder coat holds. We prepare surfaces to the grade your spec calls for, and we can set up recurring work for fleets and equipment on a schedule.

Why This Matters in San Antonio
San Antonio sits in the middle of a lot of heavy industry. The I-35 and I-10 freight corridors and the Eagle Ford Shale oilfield to the south mean plenty of work trucks, fleets and heavy equipment that need paint stripping and rust removal. Ranch and farm country to the north, west and east adds trailers and equipment. The long, hot summers and sudden heavy rain speed up rust and coating breakdown on steel that lives outside. For industrial work, that means structural steel, heavy equipment and fleets that need blasting to a clean, profiled surface before a new coating goes on.
Care & Prevention
Keep up with a coating maintenance plan on steel and equipment — blasting and re-coating on a schedule is cheaper than letting rust eat through. After blasting, get the coating on fast so the clean steel doesn't flash-rust in the humidity. Inspect fleet and equipment coatings after hail season and touch up chips before rust spreads. We can set up recurring fleet work so you stay ahead of it.

Pricing Guide
What drives the cost is the size and number of parts, how much old coating and rust has to come off, the surface or substrate, the finish and number of coats, the color choice, any masking, any repairs, removal and reinstallation for installed pieces, and travel distance for mobile work. We never quote blind.
| Job Type | Price | What Affects It |
|---|---|---|
| Structural steel prep | Quoted after we see it | Tonnage, grade, condition |
| Heavy equipment paint removal | Quoted after we see it | Size, paint layers, access |
| Fleet truck blasting | Quoted after we see it | Number of trucks, schedule, rust |
| Tank / skid / fabricated steel | Quoted after we see it | Size, condition, grade |
| Rust removal blasting | Quoted after we see it | Surface area, rust depth |
No dollar figures here on purpose — industrial jobs vary widely. We set your exact price after we see the scope, and we can quote recurring fleet work.
Blast-Cleaning Grades
Industrial coatings call for a specific surface grade. The grade describes how clean the steel is after blasting. We blast to the grade your spec requires — from a brush-off to near-white metal — so the coating bonds and performs the way it's supposed to.
SA 2.5 — Near-White Metal
Very thorough blast cleaning per ISO 8501-1: at least 95% of the surface free of visible mill scale, rust, paint and foreign matter, with only light stains remaining. Roughly equivalent to SSPC-SP 10 / NACE No. 2. The common spec for high-performance industrial coatings.
Other Grades
We also blast to lighter grades when the spec allows — a brush-off clean or a commercial blast — and to full white metal when a spec calls for it. We'll match the grade to your coating and your spec.
A note on lead paint. Paint on industrial steel or metal from before 1978 may contain lead. Older painted surfaces may need to be tested for lead and handled under the rules that apply. We never blast lead paint without the proper precautions.
Is this the right fit? The right method is decided after we see the item or surface in person. Some items may not suit a given process — for example thin sheet metal, plastic, glass, rubber or cast parts that may warp, pit or outgas, or items with lead paint that need special handling. We'll tell you straight if a different approach makes more sense.

Industrial, Paint Stripping & Rust Removal FAQs
What is SA 2.5 in blasting?
SA 2.5 is a grade from the ISO 8501-1 standard meaning very thorough blast cleaning: at least 95% of the surface is free of visible mill scale, rust, paint and foreign matter, leaving only light stains. It's often called near-white metal and is roughly equivalent to SSPC-SP 10 / NACE No. 2. We hit this grade when a spec calls for it so your coating bonds to a properly prepared surface.
Can you blast equipment at our yard or job site?
Yes. We can blast heavy equipment, structural steel and fabricated metal at your yard or job site, or arrange to bring items to the shop. For on-site work we talk through access, containment and the schedule. Mobile blasting comes to you for large or installed items.
Do you work on fleet vehicles on a schedule?
We do. Fleet truck blasting and equipment paint removal can be set up on a recurring schedule so your trucks and gear stay ahead of rust. Talk to us about a coating maintenance plan for your fleet and equipment.
What surfaces do you prep for industrial coatings?
Structural steel, tanks, skids, fabricated steel, oilfield and construction equipment, and fleet trucks. We blast to the required grade and prepare the surface for industrial coatings or powder coating so the new finish bonds and lasts.
