Gates, Fences, Railings & Patio Furniture in San Antonio
We powder coat home and property metalwork: wrought iron and steel driveway gates, ranch and pipe gates, fence panels, security doors and window bars, stair, porch and balcony railings, patio furniture, outdoor metal décor, mailbox posts and light fixtures. Old ironwork can often be restored instead of replaced.
We blast the rust off, prep the metal, and apply a durable outdoor finish that holds up better than spray paint. For the powder coating process itself — colors, finishes, single vs. two-stage — see our powder coating page. For large or installed pieces, removal and reinstallation are discussed when you book.

Why This Matters in San Antonio
San Antonio has a long tradition of decorative ironwork — wrought iron gates, railings, security doors and window bars are everywhere. The long, hot summers with intense sun fade and chalk ordinary paint, spring hail dents and chips metal, and the hard, mineral-rich water from the Edwards Aquifer leaves spots on everything the sprinklers hit. Ranch and farm country to the north, west and east is full of pipe gates. For gates, fences, railings and patio furniture, that means sun-faded, rusting ironwork and patio sets are a constant — and a cured powder coat holds up far better outdoors than spray paint.
Care & Prevention
Rinse powder-coated gates, fences and patio furniture with mild soap and water and avoid harsh solvents. Keep sprinkler spray off coated ironwork so hard-water spots don't build up. Touch up chips from hail or gravel before rust creeps under the finish. Store patio cushions off coated furniture when wet. Textured finishes hide small flaws and suit outdoor ironwork well. With basic care, coated outdoor metal stays looking good for years.

Pricing Guide
What drives the cost is the size and number of parts, how much old coating and rust has to come off, the surface or substrate, the finish and number of coats, the color choice, any masking, any repairs, removal and reinstallation for installed pieces, and travel distance for mobile work. We never quote blind.
| Job Type | Price | What Affects It |
|---|---|---|
| Driveway or ranch gate | Quoted after we see it | Size, rust, removal & reinstallation |
| Fence panel section | Quoted after we see it | Length, condition, color |
| Railing (stair/porch/balcony) | Quoted after we see it | Length, condition, removal |
| Patio furniture set | Quoted after we see it | Number of pieces, material, finish |
| Security door / window bars | Quoted after we see it | Size, condition, removal |
No dollar figures here on purpose — the price depends on size, how much rust and old coating has to come off, the finish, and removal and reinstallation for installed pieces. We set your exact price after we see it.
Restoring vs. Replacing Old Ironwork
A lot of old gates, railings and patio furniture get thrown out when they just need to be stripped and re-coated. We blast the rust and old coating off to bare metal, repair what needs repairing, and apply a durable outdoor finish. The result looks new and holds up far better than a rattle-can touch-up. If a piece is too far gone structurally, we'll tell you straight.
Outdoor Colors & Textures
Textured black is the classic for outdoor ironwork — it hides small flaws and looks right on Hill Country and Spanish-style homes. Bronze and earth tones blend with stone and stucco. Satin and matte finishes cut the glare of the sun. We'll help you pick a color and texture that suits your home and stands up to the weather.
A note on lead paint. Paint on gates, fences, railings or metal from before 1978 may contain lead. Older painted surfaces may need to be tested for lead and handled under the rules that apply. We never blast lead paint without the proper precautions.
Large or installed pieces. For gates, railings and security doors that are already installed, removal and reinstallation are discussed when you book. We don't fabricate or install gates — we restore and coat the metalwork you have.
Is this the right fit? The right method is decided after we see the item or surface in person. Some items may not suit a given process — for example thin sheet metal, plastic, glass, rubber or cast parts that may warp, pit or outgas, or items with lead paint that need special handling. We'll tell you straight if a different approach makes more sense.

Gates, Fences, Railings & Patio Furniture FAQs
Can you powder coat my gate without replacing it?
Yes, in most cases. Old ironwork can often be restored instead of replaced. We blast the rust and old coating off, prep the metal, and apply a durable outdoor finish. If a gate is too far gone structurally, we'll tell you straight. For the coating side, we don't fabricate or install gates — we restore and coat what you have.
Do you remove and reinstall gates and railings?
For large or installed pieces, removal and reinstallation are discussed when you book. Some pieces come to the shop; for installed gates, railings and security doors we talk through removal, transport and reinstallation so you know what's involved before we start.
Can rusty patio furniture be powder coated?
Yes. We blast the rust off to bare metal, repair what needs repairing, and apply a durable outdoor finish. Wrought iron and aluminum patio furniture — tables, chairs and loungers — coat well. The result holds up far better outdoors than spray paint.
How long will a powder-coated gate last in the Texas sun?
A properly prepped and cured powder coat lasts a long time in the Texas sun — far longer than spray paint. We don't promise a set lifespan in years, because sun, weather and care all matter. What we do promise is careful prep and a finish built to stand up to the sun. With basic care, a coated gate stays looking good for years.
